CANCELLED - 4th of July Celebration

The Chamber puts on the Fireworks, not the City of Lafayette, and we have to raise $15,000 to $17,000 for a 15 minute show and we have done that in the past with business sponsors and some (less than $2000) contributions from our 30,000 Lafayette residents.  For the last 5 years we have had a Go Fund Me to raise funds and the citizens contributed a bit here and there.

Our business community has been very generous in the past, but they were severely impacted by COVID and we at the Chamber were too so getting donations from our businesses who are struggling to re-open just didn’t happen.

The Chamber would have had to order $17,000 non-refundable fireworks in March and we just could not justify the expense not knowing if we would be able to hold this event.  And when we finally did get the all clear on May 16, it was too late.

We are truly saddened that we can’t do our July 4th event….but that is just our reality for this year.

Hopefully we can bring it back next year and if we do, I hope the community minded citizens of Lafayette will help support our efforts with their contributions.
