8:00am – 1:00pm at the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center

The Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival Health Fair, organized by Boulder Community Hospital/Community Medical Center, will provide programs and screening for free or are offered at a significantly reduced cost. Screenings include:

Kids will enjoy these hands on activities; the Denver Museum of Nature & Science will be in the racquetball courts with the following programs:
• View a real human brain. See how helmets protect the head.
• Observe the brain of sheep being dissected and complete a craft project.
• Observe the eye of a cow be dissected and complete a craft project
• View an actual pig’s heart specimen and a specimen showing a real human “clogged’ artery in comparison to a “clean” artery. Common treatments are presented, including an angioplasty device, stent, and heart bypass model.
• Lean how you can make healthy dietary choices while still enjoying your favorite foods
• Compare real specimens of smoker and nonsmoker lungs. Learn how the chemicals found in tobacco smoke can affect your entire body.
The Denver Children’s Museum is bringing Stuffee to our health fair. Kids can visit Stuffee in the racquetball court from 9:30am – 12:30pm and learn all about our bodies and get tips on how to stay healthy.
A Bonfils Blood Drive will also take place during the Oatmeal Festival. The Bonfils Blood Center will have a donor van in the parking lot of the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center. Consider donating blood and making a significant contribution to the well being of our communities. Also, find your perfect pet at the Humane Society’s van in the parking lot between Pioneer Elementary and the Recreation Center from 8:00am – 1:00pm.
